This past weekend included a visit to Kori’s mom and her mom’s tiny flock of hens. Having had a flock of chickens for most of the last 30+ years, there are currently just these two senior gals–keeping each other company. Mrs. Cluck, a Silver-Laced Wyandotte, is the oldest at 8 years and she is no longer laying. Betty White, a White Rock, still lays a couple large brown eggs a week. During the days, these two have the roam of acres and acres of field, forest and garden. They bring themselves back to the coop (large enough for 40 chickens) before sunset every night.
