We’ve read it in a few places and decided to give it a try–hanging a head of cabbage in the coop to give the hens something to peck at instead of teenage chickens. Well, so far, it’s been sort of magical! Using an old plastic net orange bag (we save them if they happen to come in the house), we’ve hung a head of green cabbage at just the right height to entice and distract. We haven’t seen the young ones peck at it yet, but the older gals are quite taken with this new giant morsel. Meanwhile, the younger ones are able to move about the coop more freely as they all continue getting used to this new version of chicken world!
